Where my Italian dream came true

My name is Nathalie. In September 2024, I left the Netherlands with my two dogs to embrace the simple, unspoilt life in Italy. My wish was simple yet profound: to create a place where people can slow down, breathe, enjoy the silence and feel at home amidst the warm hospitality of Abruzzo. I found that place here, in the valley of the River Fino.

A valley full of peace, views and space

B&B Valle del Fino is situated in a beautiful green valley, just a fifteen-minute walk from the river. From the terrace, the view stretches across the hills and the imposing Gran Sasso mountains. I have transformed the house into a charming, intimate B&B with room for up to ten guests, where each room has a new, comfortable bathroom.

Outdoor living as it was meant to be

Surrounding the house, you’ll find a swimming pool, a spacious terrace and various lounge areas where you can relax in peace and quiet. Thanks to its location at the end of a cul-de-sac, there’s a sense of privacy and tranquillity here that you rarely find these days. The guest kitchen is at your disposal, with a well-stocked fridge, and inside there are books and games ready for a cosy evening. If there is enough interest, we organise mountain walks to the shepherd’s hut with a simple pasta lunch, and evenings with pizza or a barbecue, where we naturally prepare the local speciality, arrosticini.

Waking up to a view of the mountains

Every morning begins with a fresh and generous breakfast on the terrace, as the first rays of sun glide over the mountains. Afterwards, the choice is yours: head out to explore Abruzzo or simply linger in one of the lounge areas and embrace the tranquillity. It is not without reason that Abruzzo is called the green heart of Europe. It is a region free from mass tourism, where nature and culture blend seamlessly. National parks, endless walking and cycling routes, medieval villages and a stunning coastline make this area a paradise for lovers of authenticity.

The beauty of Abruzzo at your fingertips

Pineto beach is just 45 kilometres away. I’d love to share my favourite day trips and restaurant recommendations with you, such as La Baita della Sceriffa, where locals gather for barbecues in the mountains. Campo Imperatore is also a must-visit: an impressive plateau in the Gran Sasso mountains where you can go hiking, cycling or simply take in the breathtaking scenery.

A taste of the real Italy

For food and wine lovers, a visit to a local winery is an unforgettable experience. Here you can sample wines and delicacies crafted with love and tradition. In summer and autumn, the area is also buzzing with local festivities, such as the Valfino al Canto music festival in August and the Festa dell’uva e del vino Montonico in October. If you’d prefer not to drive yourself, I’d be happy to take you in my seven-seater car.

Valle del Fino is a place where you feel time slow down, where you can hear the silence, and where you can completely escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here, it’s all about enjoyment, space, simplicity, and that warm feeling of coming home.
